I wolk up this morning early…I say early, as I have no idea what time it was…all I do know is I lay in bed for ages trying to get back to sleep.
The American girl sleeping above me was so wonderful….but she was snoring…LOUD! The British girl on the bottom bunk opposite me was fine and we had a new person in the room (I think she might have been Japanese) who sounded like she was climaxing ALL NIGHT! How odd! Anyway, she totally drove me crazy and was making these really odd irritating noises all night and I was in one hell of a foul mood.
I had made arrangements to meet up with Tanja and Matthias at 7am outside the YHA and I really was not in good spirits about going to the Grampians…but I thought, if I felt really tired, I could just relax at the backpackers while tey went out for a walk.
Of course, just to make things worse, the weather was shitty and it was freezing cold, and the car was freezing, so no-one in the car was too happy, and I was loosing my temper big time over the smallest thing. Another thing…something of Matthias’s was stinking…it smelled like a dog had pissed in the back of my car and it was making me nauseous….really badly.
I was too tired to drive and Tanja took over all the way to Halls Gap in the Grampians. The drive was very pretty but of course I was really tired, so I didn’t enjoy it as much as I should have.
Again we had debates over hostals. The other two wanted to stay in cheap places and for the love of god I really am want to stay in places which are half desent…so I said AGAIN I would stay in the YHA (after all I have membership and get the room cheaper)…so they went on their way for their walk and I had to wait for the reception at the Halls Gap Grampians YHA Eco-Hostel to open for me to get my room. I sat and watched the box set of Scrubs…fabulous!
I have to say, the YHA at Halls Gap was imaculate, very modern and trendy…but I didn’t think much of the proprietor. I don’t think she was very friendly and could have given me a key when she saw me instead of making me wait from 1pm until 5pm to get it.
Anyway, with my head pounding, I went to bed and slept all night. Added bonus, no-one was put in the room with me…for the first time EVER!
