Purple Wig Time!

I was planning to have a sleep in this morning…but the other two girls were up early in my room and I couldn’t get back to sleep.

My day today was pretty uneventful. I first of all went to the tourist info center to ask about going out to Gawler and was told that I would see nothing if I did…as the property is now owned to Channel 9 but I could do a tour from a company called McLeod’s Country….I might do it next time I am in Adelaide. I had hoped to see my friend Marisa who was on the ship with me, but she is not home….hopefully next time she is home we can catch up for a beer. I then went into the town center again to look at the shops and then I came back to the hostel to relax.

I drove down to Amy’s house at about 6pm to go babysitting with her. She had made these plans before I came to Adelaide and I was happy to just hang out with her. The three lads she were babysitting were adorable and it was good to catch up with everything Amy had been doing. We dressed up in her purple wig…it was fabulous.

I got back to the hostal early and went to bed as soon as I could….yes, very boring indeed!

Beautiful Adelaide

Today the three of us wolk up about 8am to the sound of puring rain. We were thankful that the weather had been so good to us on our travels…really, there was nothing that we could complain about.

We packed up our gear….trying not to get too many red sandy dirty footprints all over the Wilpena Pound Resorts carpet and headed on the road about 10am. Again we saw lots of Kangaroos who were curiously looking at us from the side of the road as we drove away.

We stopped again in Port Augusta and headed towards Adelaide. Now, one of my favourite television shows is McLeod’s Daughters (no, I am not ashamed to say I watch Living TV when I am at home in the UK) and since the show is taped near Gawler in SA I was curious to stop and see some of the places that are taped. I took the turn off for Gawler, but it was a 40km detour for us and I thought it might be better to check first on the net and go myself…just incase I bored the crap out of Tanja and Matthias.

I have to say that the scenery was fabulous…actually it looked quite similar to the UK countryside.

We arrived into Adelaide at about 3pm and I was glad to see a city…it felt as if it was ages since I had seen ‘a proper’ one. Tanja and Matthias were adamant that they wanted to stay in a ‘cheap’ hostal…but I didn’t want to. I dropped them off at the YHA and they went on to their hostal…I was staying at the Adelaide Central YHA…which was fabulous and clean.

I had sent Amy Potter (EX Fun Ship Freddy) a txt earlier in the day saying “What are you doing later?” as I was wanting to surprise her and she called me and we made arrangements to meet up later in the evening.

I went for a walk down to the Rundell St Mall (which looked quite similar to Manchester City Center) and I came back to the hostel to chill out and relax.

Amy came to collect me from the hostel at 11pm (she had been working) and she took me to a pancake place that is open 24 hours in the City. It was great seeing her…she looks really great and of course we stuffed our faces with pancakes.
