Hmmmm…very frustrated at the moment.

I have been with Blog City for a long time as I had complete control over customising my blog.

I opened the following message from them yesterday…

Dear Users,

Last August we released a new version 5.0 of our blogging Software, Version 5.0 Widgets. All users from August 1st have version 5.0 widgets by default.

However, all users who created their blog prior to that date had the option to remain on version 5.0 portlets for a period of 6 months.

Time is almost up. It is now imperative that those still using version 5.0 portlets move up to version 5.0 widgets.

The large arrow points to the version of blog-city you are currently using: If this is “5.0.4 w” in your blog administration, wonderful, you are already using widgets. If however the ‘w’ is missing, you are still using portlets.

To change over click (1) Extra then (2) Widget Switch. (3) Convert over your html and bookmark groups to widgets and then finally (4) click the button to turn over to widgets.

You have 7 days to make the switch by choice.

On the 21st February 2007 anyone remaining on portlets will be moved up to widgets automatically and their home page will be turned to a basic predefined layout. Anyone wishing to take charge of this move and design their home page themselves will need to do this switch in the next 7 days.

Version 5.0 widgets is a prerequiste for version 6.0 to be released very shortly. Keep an eye out for release dates coming soon via blog messaging.

7 days…are they out of their minds? The reason I didn’t switch before was because now their blogs just look so horrible I was praying they would make a change and now I have no choice. So, I will over the next few months transfer all the old posts over to wordpress which will be hosting my new blog.

It’s not exactly what I want but if I try and learn a bit more about CSS I am sure I can get this blog looking just as good in no time.
